“Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given...” ~Romans 12:3 (NLT)

God’s Word reminds us that true humility means we see ourselves through the eyes of faith!  When we think of the word “PRIDE”, we most often think of arrogance, a focus on self that proclaims, “I’m worthy!”  However, PRIDE can also be a focus on self that proclaims, “Woe is me….I’m worthless….”  It is ALWAYS God’s will for us to see ourselves the way He sees us:  as human, as sinners, as imperfect, but also righteous, holy, & redeemed at the same time!  As we preach the gospel to ourselves daily, we must come to grips with BOTH realities…. “we are only dust” (Psalm 103:14) but we are His Chosen, deeply loved, fully redeemed, and precious in His sight. We can, by the power of the Holy Spirit, learn to live in light of both realities, in true humility. Great freedom comes as we purpose in our hearts to walk in true humility, seeing ourselves as we truly are.  And the result of that freedom is an increased ability to serve others, for God’s great glory!  It can really help to have someone come alongside us and help us examine the degree to which we are seeing ourselves the way God sees us.  Feel free to email Wendy Wilkins if you would like to explore this more. wendy.thegreatexchange@gmail.com

Monthly Prayer Focus:  Pray that our church family would be honest in our evaluation of ourselves.  Pray that we would each preach the gospel to ourselves daily and come to terms with both our sin nature and our true position as sons and daughters of The Most High God. Pray that we will become more effective servants for Him as we walk in true humility, seeing ourselves the way He sees us.
